A question frequently asked is how wind drift from a danfoil sprayer can be controlled with such a high percentage of small droplets?
Part of the answer can be found in the droplet analysis. The velocity of the small droplets is already, at a pressure of 10 cm VS, twice the speed known from hydraulic nozzles. This gives the droplets from a Eurofoil atomizer about four times as much energy to reach their target. Furthermore, the spray angle and the droplets flight-time must also be taken into consideration.
The last part of the answer lies in the drift approvals the tests danfoil have completed through the years, which have demonstrated that the Eurofoil atomizer is fully in line with conventional nozzles.
End of April 2017 danfoil were at JKI (Julius Kühn-Instituttet, Braunschweig) to perform drift classification tests at free field conditions and have now received the testresults (see below)
As illustrated on the graph we have now achieved the following classification with our Eurofoil nozzles :
- 75% drift reduction at 5 mbar air pressure, 50 l/Ha, 40 cm boom height og 6 km/h.
- 90% drift reduction at 4 mbar air pressure, 50 l/Ha, 40 cm boom height og 6 km/h
With the same settings distribution tests were performed at JKI’s indoor test facilities
and in both cases the results could be approved.
